Whooo whoooo
While shopping with my Mother-in-law I came across this owl lamp for $3. She thought I was nuts for bringing this scary looking lamp home and Meg actually shrieked when I pulled it out and showed it to her! ;)
I started out by priming it with some gray primer. Before I finished this step Hubs
took it all apart for me (he's the smart one in the family).
Then I coated it with Heirloom White spray paint (which so many of you have recommended). I forgot to take a pic of the front before step 4 so here is the back of it.
After that I took the sandpaper to it and knocked off some white letting the original brown show through and voila here is my owl.
Eventually he may become a lamp again but for now he's sitting on top of my corner cabinet keeping an eye on things.

A VAST improvement!!
How neat and what a great idea...will have to keep my eyes open for interesting lamps from now on...sometimes it is hard to think outside the box.
Have a great week.
Great transformation!~
Blessings,
Sher
WOW...what a transformation!!! He looks GREAT!!
Oh I love yours white. I painted mine black but not really happy with the look so I just might have to get on back to the store for some white spray paint....do I hear spray paint party again soon....
Victoria that would be so nice of you to do that. I live in the Dublin area. You would think they would have them here but no such luck and Dollar General indeed stinks. Went to Big Lots, Walmart, Freds, CVS, Rite Aide, and Dollar Tree and no one has crows...thanks so much.
I love that!!! I would love it as a lamp too, so cute!! Great Job!
Great Job, didn't you add the base as well? Now all he needs is a name. Aristothenese, I think. Sounds very dignified, like he will do a good job being an guard owel.
He's adorable!!! :)
I will say, he looks so much better. He just needed his feathers fluffed a little. Jackie
What a cute project! I'm into bunnies, not owls, but what a great way to update an old lamp. I just love lamp redos & have done a lot of them myself.
Wow--turned out really good!
When I first saw that owl I thought I would have a kidney stone!!! It looks perfect now!
Looks great! What a difference!
I can't wait to link my blog to yours. I found a similar owl, that looks like the cousin of yours. Must be the time era. I found it for $1I will let you know when I post him, thanks for the inspiration.
I so would have bought it as well! $3 bucks-what a deal!
He is the perfect addition to anyones halloween decor! He would be one spooky lamp-maybe you could glue leaves on the shade-then he would like he was in the trees!
I love it!! I've had a little owl obsession lately so I'm loving yours. I love the white paint!
I LOVE a good use of spray paint!! That looks great!
