Making Cozy out of Boring

We have a very long and narrow hallway. It is very boring and leaves little room for decoration. Even the pictures hung on each side often get bumped. Daily I look down the hall from the kitchen and just see blah--or our bathroom which is the door on the left.

I decided to add this little table and lamp to brighten things up. There was not a plug in, so we had to run the cord to the plug behind my sons bedroom door. So far it is working and not getting bumped or turned over. Only time will tell.

Much more cozy, wouldn't you say? Both of my children have commented about it.

The table came from a junk-tique store a few years ago and the paint is very chipy. I may paint it soon, but didn't let that stop me from using it today.

The white bowl is one of two and they are the only things I own that belonged to my dear Papa who passed away when I was in high school.

I added a frame from the $1 section at Target, cut some brown scrapbook paper to fit and hot glued this plaster lion head on it. First I tried just the lion head, but it needed something else. The frame pulled it all together. My hubby bought me the lion head over 12 years ago. I have three of them, all different sizes. They have been everywhere in our house. Love them!!

Have you made something cozy today? Give it a try.

That definitely makes a cozy area. Just using lamps make areas cozy to me. We have a bunch of them around the house.

Cozy for sure. My hall is just long and narrow, and lots of ugly doors. I don't thing anything will work in it. I have lot's of cozying up to do over here. Thanks for the prayers. Jackie

I haven't made anything cozy (other than hold my new granddaughter as much as I can) during the last three weeks.

You made a small spot just pop between those two white doors. Excellent choice of items...the lion head really looks great.

What a great idea with the lions head! Love the bowl from Papa. I will have to see it next time I am over.

I really like it! I did something similar in my hallway years ago. I just can't stand looking down the hall to an empty wall. When we 1st moved in HGTV decorators were putting full length mirrors at the end. I even saw where one woman who did a mirror with a shabby chic screen door in front of it. I thought it was cute. But I find that everything I like doesn't always go well in my home. So I opted for a little cabinet with glass doors. I put all my neat shabby chic chaques in it and a flowers on top. The only silks I have left.
Okay way to much info, all to say I like your idea!
I like the table and the way it looks and wouldn't change it until you've got a bee in your bonnet to paint it.

Thanks for the inspiration. If I can just find the right skinny table that would fit in our upstairs hallway. . . At least you had things on your wall. Until last Friday my pictures were propped. Now they have been moved into the room where things disappear.=) hehe

You just gave me inspiration for our upstairs hallway! While it's not narrow, it's boring. There is room for a table and lamp, but I never thought of it until I read your post. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have a long, narrow, dull hallway, too--but I think I could carve out a scrap of space for a tiny table and lamp! Thanks SO MUCH for the inspiration!
