If you are like me, you have newspapers, junk mail and old papers around the house. In fact, in the intrest of keeping it somewhat real, here is *one* of my piles of paper.
So today I gave in to a moment of creative craziness with another pile. This pile was a local newspaper that no one had read and never will get around to reading. I started wadding some into a sphere shape. I then covered it with a sheet of aluminum foil to keep it together.
I then hot glued some bay leaves all over it. Perfection was not my aim, just a nice little green sphere.
Added a little bling to a candlestick and a small pile of newspapers becomes much more attractive.
Actually the one below was my first attempt with another bit of paper and glue, but I think it looks like a head of broccoli that is going bad. :0 Well, in real life it doesn't look nearly as bad as the picture, but still.

I like them both. I actually like the second one the best because it is more vibrant.
ReplyDeleteNow aren't you one smart lady to think about using bay leaves another way than using them in cooking.
ReplyDeleteBoth of the green decorating items are interesting...betcha you won't find duplicates anywhere.
You are talented to have these ideas!
Wow good job I love them both!
ReplyDeleteThis is pure genious. love. it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to use those bay leaves. We have some cute tiny pinecone type things that would look great too. Thanks for more great ideas. Jackie
ReplyDeleteWow, now that's recycling! Great idea. Gee, I have a few piles of that "junk" laying around myself ~ now I know what to do with it :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sher
Love it!! You are so creative! I wish we were closer to each other so I could glean some of your creative knowledge and have you help me with finding inexpensive ways to make the house look great.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing the first pile of stuff, too. That made me feel better. We have too many of those right now.
I think both of them are great! Way to recycle!
ReplyDeleteI actually like the "broccoli" one best. :) One could do this with almost anything. Pine cones, leaves, mini pumpkins, acorns, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou know, if you have any broccoli going bad just send it Mom's way. ;)
What a great idea! It turned out wonderful. It adds a little whimsey to the area.
ReplyDeleteChristina~
ReplyDeleteThanks for being real with the paper pile~I've got to tackle mine!! :) I love the leaf sphere, and I don't think the bottom one is like broccoli?? I love it!
What an awesome idea! I love it. I always see those decorative balls everywhere, and I like them, but can never bring myself to buy them because they are always priced ridiculously for a styrofoam ball. Now, I will just make my own! Thanks!
