A Free Paperback Turns Into A Pumpkin At Midnight

It was a dark and stormy night, the wind was whistling through the trees...

I sat late one evening last week, while watching a recorded show, and turned a free paperback into a pumpkin. Magic powers you say?? No, just a cute idea and a little time. It wasn't really stormy either, just sounded good and I wanted to use the tree picture. : ) I'm going to get it printed and framed. I love its starkness.

Now back to the paperback pumpkins...

Pottery Barn inspiration. Isn't this room the best? I just adore the black and white. See the book pumpkins on the buffet and shelf.

So armed with a book, some popcorn and an iced tea, and sweet quiet, I started folding pages. Fold towards the spine. Keep folding, and folding. You will get there it just takes time. I did find that a thicker paperback works best. It will be full and will not really require any gluing.

There are many of these out there. It certainly didn't start with me (here is Victoria's), but we did get an e-mail asking some more about making them after we posted our halloween decor, so I thought I would share. And just in case anyone notices, I decided not to use the book in the popcorn picture, and found a different one. Please let me know if you made one, and I'll add your link too. I don't want to leave anyone out.

Victoria is headed to the mountains this weekend and I will be here trying to get things done and enjoy my family. Hubby made a big pot of chili for us to dip into this weekend. Mmmmm. He has written his recipe out for me and I hope to share it soon. It is thick and delish!
